Throughout its history, the Alliance Defending Freedom has worked tirelessly to serve the needs of clients who come from a diverse number of backgrounds.

Formerly known as Alliance Defense Fund, the organization was launched in 1994 by a group of leaders from a Christian background. While many of the organization’s clients over the years have also been from a Christian background, it has also worked hard to defend the rights of people from many other religious backgrounds as as well as those who do not profess belief in any religious faith. It has built a reputation over the years as the globe’s foremost organization in the legal sphere that works to protect freedom of speech, religious freedom, and other key rights.

The Alliance Defending Freedom bases its work off of a strongly held belief that freedom of religion is a right that every individual person has. Alliance Defending Freedom also believes freedom of political belief is a right that must be protected. The organization has done a tremendous amount of on-campus work in which it has represented the interests of students from a variety of beliefs and political leanings. These include conservatives, those of various religious beliefs, libertarians, pro-conservationists, and many others.

The work that the organization does has gone beyond the borders of the USA as well. It has worked to stop the persecution of religious minorities across the world. The Alliance Defending Freedom holds accreditation from the Organization of American States and the European Economic and Social Council, among others.

These affiliations have played a crucial role in the ability of the Alliance Defending Freedom to make a difference on the global stage. Over the years, the organization has been a major player in some 30 victories that were ruled on by the European Court of Human Rights.
