All You Need To Know About Kelcy Warren

Kelcy Warren was born in 1955 in Gladewater, Texas, and is the youngest among four boys. His father was a gauger and ditch digger at Sun Oil, later becoming a field clerk. His mother is from Louisiana and worked at a department store.

The Baptist Church impacted the family that they attended double services on Sundays. They also were a boy scout family, where the father was his scoutmaster, while the mother was a den leader.

Kelcy Warren began working at the young age of 12 years, where he carried hay and worked in a gas station earning 30 cents per hour. As he got older, he undertook oilfield-linked jobs where he fixed oilfield leaks, and pipeline construction, helping a welder and a lineman supporting telephone lines used for meter readings.

In 1978, he graduated from Texas University in Arlington, where he studied civil engineering. The same year, Lone Star Gas employed him as a pipeline design engineer. He later joined Endevco- an energy-growing company, taking an interest in the commercialization of energy growth.

In 1992, together with a partner, they acquired Endevco and modified its name to Cornerstone Natural Gas, where they auctioned it after four years. Kelcy Warren later co-founded Energy Transfer taking the role of chairman, overseeing the company with the most diversified investments in energy partnerships.

With the experience gained and success witnessed, he has been honored by receiving the Horatio Alger Award, the Gas Processors Suppliers Association’s Hanlon Award, and the Young and Ernst entrepreneur of the year award.

In 1997, he founded a funding drive at the University of Texas to honor Dr. Qasim- an engineering professor who encouraged him. He was the lead contributor at Klyde Warren Park – an urban park naming it after his son. Kelcy hosted the fundraiser for Cherokee Crossroads – a company that finances children’s aids in Texas. He served for the Lamplighter school on the board and is honored at the Texas Business Hall of Fame. See related link for more information.
