Amy’s Kitchen View on Why People Are Wanting More Plant-Based Food

Amy's KitchenPersonal food preferences are always evolving. The demand for plant-based foods has increased dramatically in recent years, spurring new interest in the organic market. People are increasingly being “woken up” to the fact that food isn’t just about taste — it’s about nutrition and sustaining health.

The vegan trend is not a new one and Amy’s Kitchen has been at the forefront of it for more than 35 years. In fact, it was one of the earliest companies to be certified by the USDA as an organic producer. Over the past three decades, Amy’s has been committed to making real food easy for everyone at the table—Food that’s tasty and balanced, made with high quality ingredients that are also good for you.

Lately, there’s been a huge demand for more variety and Amy’s is excited about meeting this need. While we’ve always had customers who prefer plant-based meals, we are seeing more and more people who are committed to whole foods, plant-based diets.

Why is this happening now? A few reasons:

  1. It’s better for health

As our understanding of nutrition develops, more and more people are looking for sustainable ways to stay healthy. The research is clear that a diet rich in fiber and phytonutrients from colorful vegetables, whole grains, fruits and beans can help you maintain a healthy weight, reduce the risk of heart disease, hypertension and Type 2 diabetes.

  1. More and more prefer the taste of plant-based food

Here at Amy’s Kitchen, we’re working to develop a variety of plant-based meals that are authentic, delicious and can be served in a flash. The excellent reviews we’ve gotten from those trying our new plant-based foods have been very encouraging.

Some of these are already available at our restaurants, such as our Spinach Pizza, Macaroni & Cheese and Organic Black Bean Veggie Burgers, while others will be on the menu soon.

  1. More people are becoming conscious about the planet

Amy's KitchenMany people today are aware of the environmental impact of our food choices and are seeking out options that are sustainable. The vegan movement is all about minimizing our carbon footprint—not only in the way we eat but also in how we farm.

Amy’s Kitchen is excited to be part of this movement, making delicious plant-based meals for everyone at the table, whether or not they’re committed to a vegan diet.
