Ben Roethlisberger: A Man and Christian Who is More than Just Football
A lot of people know Ben Roethlisberger from his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but not as many people are familiar with his philanthropic ventures. He is more than just a Super Bowl Champion, he is also a devout Christian and family man, and a man on a mission to help those that are less fortunate.
Ben Roethlisberger was raised in Findlay, OH, where he was a successful multi-sport athlete. He grew up close with his mother, father, and sister. It was during his senior year of high school that he decided he would continue his football career at the University of Miami, OH. After his college career, he was drafted to the Pittsburgh Steelers where he would play his entire career for 18 years.
Not only was Ben Roethlisberger able to have a successful career in the NFL, but he was also able to start his legacy with the Roethlisberger Family Foundation. Ben Roethlisberger grew up with a very loving and supportive father, and hosts retreats and other things to help support father-son bonds in the community and around the nation. He purchased a farm right down the road from his current home so that he could attend the retreats and be active with the organization, without having to spend a lot of time away from his family.
From there he also got involved with Light of Life. This is a charity that supports shelters for the homeless around the Pittsburgh area. He teamed up with recording artist Micah Tyler to assist the foundation with their financial needs. For every shirt that is sold in support of the charity, Ben is personally matching the donation for the foundation. This organization allows not just open doors for those who need help, but a meal delivery program as well to serve the community with pride. See this article for additional information.
