Marwan Kheireddine Recap
Marwan Kheireddine is the CEO and Founder of a company behind a smart billing solution. He is considered one of the founders and leaders in the technology community in Lebanon. He has created many successful brands, including “Social Media Times.” He has greatly influenced many other entrepreneurs. Marwan Kheireddine also showed what it is to be a Lebanese entrepreneur by creating many companies that are well-known in Lebanon, in particular his first company, “Yamaha,” which was sold to a global company.
- Biography
Marwan was born in Beirut, Lebanon. He attended the American University of Beirut, where he received his undergraduate degree in Computer Science. He was a student of Dr. Maged El-Tohamy, and has stated that “he was a mentor during the whole university career.” Marwan also earned his Master’s Degree in Software Engineering from Southwestern University in Texas, United States. At an early age, he was entrepreneurial and very smart at business, even though he didn’t have a background in business. He sold his third-grade school uniform to his father for 200 lire per month. He also convinced a potato chip factory in Byblos to give him the old chip bags to recycle and make new ones. Marwan named his first creation “Yamaha,” a computer factory consisting of 10 employees, most of whom were his family members.
- Career
Marwan worked as a computer programmer for the Lebanese multinational Bank Audi Group and later served as CEO of the Bank. As a CEO, Marwan was able to turn around the crumbling financial services sector. He built an image of a well-respected man in Lebanon’s media by making public appearances and helping people with financial problems. In 2012, Marwan started his company “Elevate” to develop technology-related projects for small businesses and entrepreneurs in Lebanon. Elevate’s first project is focused on e-commerce.
His success has led to him being known as one of the pioneers in the technology business. He has been named a Lebanese Young Entrepreneur by the American University of Beirut and was listed as one of the top 100 most powerful people in Lebanon. He has also won many awards, such as the “CIO Middle East award” in 2008, and he was recognized and awarded for his work promoting Lebanese IT companies.
