The Contribution That Gino Pozzo Makes To The Achievements Of Watford Football Club

The Pozzo family, owners of a sports-marketing company based in Italy, acquired the Watford Football Club in June 2012. Gino Pozzo was then appointed as the club’s chairman. The Pozzo family has significantly changed the club’s structure and operations.

Pozzo was born in Rome, Italy, where he began his career as a sports manager in his family’s private company, Sport Pozzo Srl., in 1994. His grandfather Vittorio Pozzo founded the company who managed several football clubs, including Italy’s national team, which won its first World Cup title in 1934.

After graduating from Rome University with a degree in economics and commerce, Gino Pozzo joined the family business, where he was involved with all of its major activities, including managing football clubs and organizing sporting events on behalf of international companies like Nike and Adidas. Sport Pozzo Srl. operated mainly as an agency organizing events at sports facilities like stadiums and arenas for major brands like Nike and Adidas.

In 2006, Sport Pozzo Srl. gained full control of the Vicenza Calcio football club located near Venice on Italy’s mainland. Though the team had played in Serie A for several years before this acquisition by Sport Pozzo Srl., it worked hard to remain competitive.

Gino Pozzo thus transformed the club into one of the most successful teams in the English top flight. Watford FC was originally a non-league club in the English football league system, but Pozzo convinced the board of directors to take them into the English top flight with him as the team’s CEO. For this reason, Watford FC has become so well-known for its incredible transformation from a lower-division football club into one of the top-flight leagues in the world.

Gino Pozzo has been involved in the buying and selling teams for many years now, most notably with the purchase of FC Porto from the Portuguese government in 2010. During this time, the Portuguese club was relegated from the top flight of European football but continued to play in second-division leagues in the United Kingdom, Northern Europe, and the Middle East. In the process, they were able to attain the distinction of being dubbed the “International Champions Cup” by the Premier League.

In the same year, Gino Pozzo also managed to acquire the Fiorentina Football Club in Italy, which was relegated from the topflight of Italian football during the same year. Pozzo became one of the most successful owners in European football history through these acquisitions. Refer to this article to learn more.
